The Silicon Valley Screenplay Contest was created to assist in the promotion of new and original screenplays from fresh voices. Our contest was built with a goal to open real doors for emerging screenwriters.
In collaboration with the Silicon Valley Independent Film Festival our contest offers a chance at prizes, honors, attention and opportunities to access to industry professionals, as well as introductions to potential collaborators ( including many new and exciting independent film creators and producers).
Feature Films, Short Films, and Streaming / TV Pilots in all genres and styles are accepted.
Winners are pre-contacted online via email and also via the submission platform service you submitted with (Coverfly or FilmFreeway) prior to winners being announced online. Winners are contacted about 1-2 weeks after the final call to entry has concluded, if not sooner in some cases. Keep eyes open for emails as all submitters will be notified of the final judging status of all submitted projects.
Scripts are first read and scored by 5 contest judges, semi-finalists are read and scored by 3 additional contest judges, with all finalists then voted on by our annual panel of deciding judges drawn from all areas in the entertainment industry, from literary managers, agents, producers, journalists, professional screenplay contest judges, development executives, film historians, commentators, and devoted lovers of new cinema.
You always keep 100% ownership of your screenplay submission when submitting to our Screenplay Contest.
We highly recommend registering your screenplay with either the US Copyright Office as well as registering your screenplay with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) before submitting or discussing your project anywhere.
All award winners receive a unique and specific Award Laurel inscribed with the project title and the award winner name.
Laurels are in the form of an image file and will be emailed to all winners. For those who attend in person: a framed certificate will be presented to winners attending the festival.
Engraved Award Statues will be given out at the festival to the winners of Best Unpublished Screenplay – Grand Prize Award Winner.
Best Unpublished Screenplay – Grand Prize award winner to receive a $2,000.00 cash prize.
Award Statues with personal engraving are also available for purchase – for all award winners. Shipping of purchased award statues also available for award winners who reside in the United States.
